PROGRAM: The Black Hills Playhouse is an intensive, professional, summer theatre production and training center associated with the College of Fine Arts, University of South Dakota located in Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Professional staff and students work together in all aspects of production providing practical training.

PERSONNEL: Applicants accepted as company members must be mature, talented people who have a secure knowledge of theatre arts or related arts as they apply to theatre. Company members may be hired for one show or for the season. The company will be at the Playhouse from the May 21st through August 19th. Many conflicts can be worked out, if they are known ahead of time.

DAKOTA PLAYERS will also be hiring personnel for summer, fall and spring tours. Actor/Director teams visit a community for a weeklong residency that culminates with a musical production using up to 50 local children. The Actor/Directors play major roles in each production. PAY: In addition to room and board, all company members are paid.

MATERIALS TO BE SUBMITTED WITH AUDITION or INTERVIEW:

Actors – prepared, memorized audition piece(s) including a song; a resume; a recent headshot. Total audition to last no longer than three minutes. Accompanist will be provided. If you cannot audition in person, we accept recorded auditions online or in DVD format. Vocal auditions accepted on CD.

Designers/Technicians – resume, recent headshot, and photographs/DVD of recent work.

EXPECTATION and PREPARATION:

Prepare: A two-minute monologue to perform. It may be memorized or performed with the monologue script in hand. There will be cold readings from the script, well. Please be familiar with the script. No appointments are necessary.

Bring: Resume and headshot if available. Bring all known conflicts from April 16 through June 17th.

Rehearsals begin from mid to late April will run Sun. – Thur. evenings.

SYNOPSIS:

At Peter and Rita’s wedding, a mysterious old man insists on kissing the bride. While honeymooning, Peter gradually realizes that the woman by his side is not his wife. The wedding kiss caused Rita’s soul and the old man’s to change places. Peter must track down the old man and free his young love’s spirit trapped in an aging and diseased body before it’s too late.
