The Actor Training Studio provides quality acting study for actors aged 12 to 15. This Young Actors Workshop focuses on not only the basics of character development and solid acting technique, but what elements go into successful collaboration with other actors. Mateusz Lewczenko teaches this popular section for young actors at ATS.

Mateusz Lewczenko

As a freelance coach and director, Mateusz has taught with the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, The Coterie Theatre, Starlight Theatre and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. He has directed workshops, and lectures at local high schools including Pembroke Hill High School, Shawnee Mission East and Blue Springs High School. Mateusz has been seen in shows at the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre, the Unicorn Theatre, the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, the Coterie Theatre and the Kansas City Repertory Theatre. You can also hear and see him in various radio and television commercials in the Midwest. He obtained his MFA in Acting and Directing from the University of Missouri – Kansas City where he also performed in many shows. Some favorites include The Importance of Being Earnest, The Maids’ Tragedy and The Circus Show. He hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he obtained his BA in Theater from Temple University. Mateusz is now proud to call Kansas City his new home. Regarding the ATS Young Actors Workshop, Mateusz said, “No prior experience or preparation is necessary to attend, the only prerequisites are smiles and a desire to risk being great!

The ATS Young Actors Workshop is conducted on a To Be Announced basis. Class size will be strictly limited, to ensure individualized attention and instruction for each actor.

ATS also accommodates the busy schedules of actors aged 12 and above with private or semi-private study. Young actors learn the in's and out's of auditioning for TV, film and theatre, using monologues and cold-reading techniques. Coach Andy Garrison is able to guide young actors in a supportive style that's fun while leading them toward a mature and focused process.
